The Man Behind the Lens: Jonny Flietstra

Hello there, I'm Jonny Flietstra, a lifestyle photographer based in the beautiful town of Pembroke, Ontario. I have a passion for encapsulating the precious moments of life for couples and families. There's a unique magic in preserving fleeting instances of joy, love, and togetherness, and that's what I strive for in each shot.

My absolute favourite time to shoot is as the sun begins to make its descent, casting a beautiful golden light on everything it touches. The evening glow gives my photos a warm, nostalgic feel that I believe truly captures the essence of the moment.

I have a particular fondness for shooting weddings. The flurry of emotions, the joyous atmosphere, the candid moments - it's a beautiful chaos that I enjoy getting lost in. My approach to wedding photography is low-pressure and relaxed. My aim is to ensure the couple enjoys their day as much as possible, while I discreetly capture their happiest moments.

Wedding photography presents a unique challenge that I relish. It's a day filled with a variety of scenes and emotions, requiring me to switch between different styles of photography - from photojournalism to documentary, from portrait to fashion, and even landscapes and food photography. As night falls, I get to take exciting action shots on the dance floor - a perfect end to a perfect day!

Despite my love for photography, I'm not one for the limelight. I prefer to remain unobtrusive during the ceremony, focusing on capturing real moments rather than commanding attention. Rest assured, you won't find me crowding your space with an array of lights and reflectors. I believe in capturing the mood of the moment as it is, without interfering with the natural flow of the event.

Aside from photography, I am a huge fan of fresh roasted coffee. The sight of a great bean blooming in the top of a Chemex is a sight I can never resist. I love to travel and explore new places.
